Automated Packaging Systems Joins Forces with Pacwell

to Offer AirPouch® Void Fill Systems in Japan

Streetsboro, OH – October 7, 2008 – Automated Packaging Systems, the leader in high-reliability bag packaging systems, has partnered with Pacwell, Inc., an experienced distributor of packaging materials and systems in Japan, to sell and service its line of AirPouch® Void Fill Protective Packaging Systems.

The AirPouch Express 3 is a tabletop unit that produces air pillows at speeds over 50 feet per minute. The unit weighs just 35 pounds and has a footprint of 21” x 9”, making it one of the most lightweight and compact packing systems on the market. The system is fast enough for high-volume applications, yet cost-effective for packing operations that use as little as 200 cubic feet of packing material per week.

The AirPouch Express 3 operates in automatic or semi-automatic modes, producing continuous strips of air pillows that can be torn away quickly and easily for fast, clean packing operations. The unit features operator-friendly controls, with an all-electric design that does not require compressed air to operate. Automated Packaging Systems also offers a variety of AirPouch accessories to deliver bags directly to one or more packing lines.

Air pillows are ideal for all void-fill applications and for many other protective packaging uses. AirPouch pillows are available in a variety of sizes to suit each application, and only AirPouch pillows offer the company’s exclusive EZ-Tear™ perforations for ergonomic handling. AirPouch pillows are pre-formed using DuraClear™ LDPE, a strong and puncture resistant material. AirPouch pillows come fan-folded in convenient sized boxes that contain up to 400 cubic feet of material, significantly reducing the storage requirements found with other packing products, such as paper or EPS peanuts. Air pillows offer many advantages over traditional packing materials because they are cleaner, lighter, more user-friendly, and they do not hide the product inside the box.

The AirPouch Express 3 Void Fill system will be demonstrated in Pacwell’s booth #6B-03-02 at Tokyo Pack 2008, along with the Autobag® AB 180™ High-speed Bagger, the PaceSetter PS 125™ Tabletop Bagger, and AutoLabel™ PI 412c™ Thermal Transfer Imprinter. These semi-automatic packaging systems are specifically designed to increase productivity and reduce costs for a wide variety of applications.

Yukuto Motomatsu, president of Pacwell says, “By distributing AirPouch and Autobag products in Japan, we are able to offer our customers new, highly efficient and cost effective packaging systems.” Dan Fogg, Director of AirPouch Operations adds, “We are pleased to partner with Pacwell at Tokyo Pack 2008. Pacwell has the experience and products to offer its customers a broad range of packaging solutions.”
